NEW BILLING FOR SANITATION

Salt Lake County Special Service District #1 (Sanitation) provides garbage and recycling collection for the residents within your cities and communities. As of January 1, there will be some changes. The name will change to Wasatch Front Recycling District (WFWRD) and you will receive a bill in the mail rather than paying your garbage/recycling fee with your property taxes. The fee will remain the same, but you will receive a separate bill and the fee will be removed from your property tax notice.  WFWRD will be mailing the annual bill with payment options during the first semester of 2013.  If you have any questions, please call at 385-468-6325

Garbage Collection Services Wasatch Front Waste provides weekly curbside residential refuse collection.  We also provide collection services to parks, libraries and other non-residential sites.    

Recycle Collection Services We offer residents an opportunity to recycle paper, cardboard, plastics, aluminum and tin.  The blue recycle container is emptied every week on the resident’s regular refuse collection day.     What can be recycled

Free public E-Waste Collection Station:  in the lobby of the Salt Lake County Public Works Administration Building located at 604 West 6960 South, Midvale, UT 84047.  The site accepts medium to small electronic waste between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

E-Waste is defined as all of the electronic or electrical devices or their parts that people throw out after they become broken or obsolete.  Electronic waste accepted at this site includes: televisions (31 inches or smaller), computers (and components), printers, fax machines, microwaves, stereos, cameras, cell phones, typewriters and video recorders, to name a few.  If you have questions about the acceptability of your electronic device, please call our office at 385-468-6325.  Other E-Waste collection sites are located at the Salt Lake Valley Landfill, 6030 West California Avenue and at the TransJordan Landfill, 10873 South 7200 West (8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday 

 Annual Area Cleanup Program  An annual area cleanup program is provided to district residents.  Roll-off containers are  placed in neighborhoods for the disposal of large bulky items, etc.  Residents are notified by  mail one to two weeks before their scheduled day.   

Trailer Rental   Trailers are available for homeowners to rent to dispose of large green waste.  They are dropped off at the residence and hauled away according to  schedule. There is a $30 rental fee for a green waste trailers.  Trailers are rented through reservation and scheduled according to availablity.

Box Collection Program  A special pick up of moving boxes and packing material is provided to new residents.  There is no charge to the homeowner for this service.  

Fall Leaf Pick up  A fall leaf bag program is available each year.  Trailers are placed at various locations for  residents to dispose of leaves.  Leaf bags are supplied at no additional charge.   

Christmas Tree Collection   Curbside Christmas tree collection is provided each January.  The trees are recycled in the composting program at the landfill. 

Assist Program  Any resident with mobility limitations may request assistance with their weekly collection at no  additional charge.  We are happy to work individually with any resident requiring assistance.   

Container Repair/Replacement  Upon request, we provide container repair and/or replacement for our customers.
