General Information: The City of Holladay requires that a valid business license be held by anyone conducting business in Holladay. “Business” means and includes every craft, trade, occupation, profession or activity pursued for gain or profit. Non-profit, charitable, governmental and insurance agencies are also required to obtain a business license although they may be exempt from license fees. State business licenses are required for certain businesses such as massage therapy, beauticians, contractors, etc. You can contact the Utah Department of Licensing to see if your profession requires a state license.
Each business location will need a separate license.
Temporary Businesses, Special Events and Solicitor are also required to obtain licenses and permits. Solicitors and door-to-door sales persons, who may already be licensed in another city, are required to obtain a Solicitors License through Holladay.
Licenses are not transferable from address to address, nor from owner to owner. Any change of location, ownership or corporate information requires a new application to be submitted. Minor changes such as mailing address can be called into the city office.
Renewals are mailed out on the first of the month in which the license expires. In order to avoid late fees, licenses must be renewed prior to expiration of license. The licensee is responsible for renewal. Holladay requires notice if the business has moved out of the City or is no longer conducting business.
strong>Application Information:
The following information will be required on the application:
Certain business may also be required to provide surety bonds or undergo background investigations.
We will also need to know the number of full and part-time employees and any vehicles used in conjunction with the business. Fees for licenses vary according to number of employees, vehicles, type of business and disproportional fees associated with that business.
Once the application is completed and has been submitted, it is forwarded to the following departments for approval: Fire, Health, Sheriff, Zoning & Building. The approval of these departments may depend on a site inspection. The licensing department must receive approval from the above listed departments in order to issue a business license.
When all applicable departments have approved the application, a business license will be issued. The average processing time for a new license is 30 days.
