The Holladay City Council has received a recommendation from the City's Planning Commission to amend the existing commercial zones Chapter 13.56, C-1 Zone and Chapter 13.62, C-2 Zone. The proposal recommends rescinding the current commercial chapters and adopting a new Chapter 13.55, Specific Commercial Zones. The text amendment proposes changing the current C-1 Zone to a new zone designation, "Boulevard Commercial" (BC), the current C-2 Zone to a new zone designation, "General Commercial" (GC) and creating a new "Neighborhood Commercial" Zone (NC).
The new and amended commercial zone chapter (Chapter 13.55) includes a purpose statement for each zone, general and specific development standards, design guidelines and a revised list of permitted and conditional uses that will be used to guide future development or redevelopment of any commercial property in these zones. The recommended proposal also includes amendments to Section 13.80.040 Parking, which would modify the number of parking spaces required for uses throughout the city.
