Acceptable waste includes yard clippings, building materials, metals, tires, furniture, T.V.’s and appliances.
Not acceptable are hazardous waste, chemicals and refrigerators.

The Holladay Youth Council is sponsoring a city wide project to benefit the Road Home. The mission of the Road Home is to help people step out of homelessness and back into the community. The Youth Council is collecting items that will be delivered to Road Home Dec. 22, during the traditional Holiday Radio Broadcast.. Items needed include: blankets of all sizes, coats of all sizes, water proof gloves,diapers and wipes, water proof gloves, socks, hats and scarves of all sizes. Items may be dropped at the Holladay City office building (4580 South 2300 East), or the Holladay SportClips building (1871 Murray Holladay Road) by December 21st

The Great Utah ShakeOut will give us the opportunity to analyze our preparedness of what to do during and after an earthquake disaster. The ShakeOut Drill is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17 at 10:15am. At that time, participants will drop, cover, and hold on in schools, workplaces, homes, and communities across Utah. The Holladay Youth Council will be sponsoring a Halloween parade and activities. Those invited to participate are children pre-school through second grade. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is planned for Monday, October 24, 4:00p.m. to 5:30p.m at City Hall.
Activities will include a photo booth where children can be photographed in their costume. The charge for photos is $1 per picture. Any profits will be donated to the Road Home. Please R.S.V.P. to Pat at 801-455-3535.

The Holladay Arts Council hosted a 2012 “Winter’s Day in Holladay” photography contest. We had a great turn out with 25 submissions this year, which are hung in Holladay City Hall from January 23 through Feb 3

Christmas trees will be collected at curbside beginning Monday, January 1 and continue until January 31, 2011. Trees need to be bare! Trees MUST be placed on the curb, not in the street and DO NOT place trees inside your trash can.
Trees will be picked up on the same day as your regular garbage or the next day. The trees will be taken to the landfill for use in the composting program. This service is provided to residents at NO additional cost.

The City of Holladay will be awarding six high school seniors (one boy and one girl from Skyline, Cottonwood and Olympus high schools) with $500 scholarships this Spring. This will be Holladay’s 2nd Annual Scholarship Awards Program as part of the City’s continuing efforts to strengthen our local public schools.
The awards will be based upon a consideration of academic achievement, leadership, and service to the school or community. Preference will be given to Holladay residents. Interested students should contact their school guidance counselors for application forms or on the City's website. The deadline for submissions is April 13th, 2012. The Scholarship Awards Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Irrigation and flood seasons are quickly approaching. Canals will be flowing as soon as April 1st. Flooding is often caused by floating debris clogging culverts and trash grates. If your home is adjacent to Big Cottonwood Creek, a canal, or other drainage ditch, we ask your help in making sure that the banks are free of debris to prevent flooding. This is particularly important given the recent wind storms in the area.
